No, it is not necessary, although it is, of course, welcome. For many students this is their first experience with hand tools and they are taught until they are proficient with them.
Yes, if you have the desire and time it is just a matter of practice and dedication. Our students are people of all kinds, and they all end up building quality instruments. We weren't born guitar players either, it's just a matter of learning.
No, learning to work with wood is part of the course. We will teach you to know the materials and how to use the tools throughout the course.
